Is Pleased to Announce For more than three weeks in April and May 2007, Estonia's public and private sector were targeted by a series of computer network attacks, resulting in the Estonian government declaring it was engaged in a cyber conflict. Estonian government, banking, and media websites were crippled by sustained waves of distributed denial of service attacks, some of which reportedly originated on Russian state servers. This conflict has specific and important implications for the private sector, including hardware and software vendors whose products were targeted by the attacks and in some cases blamed for conditions that allowed the growth of botnets used in the attack. This symposium will focus on the private sector-related issues raised by the Estonia case, exploring its strategic, legal, financial, and technical implications. Business Operations: How could such attacks affect key business operations? What plans and measures should a business have in place to prepare for a similar event in the future? Financial: What are the implications of level cyber attacks for investor confidence in the security and resilience of vendor products? Legal: What might the legal ramifications be of such an attack to end users and suppliers? Operational/Technical: What technical measures can companies take to prepare for future attacks? To answer these questions and spark a rich dialogue, the symposium will gather together experts from the public & private sectors. Panels will be convened to discuss each of these topics in greater detail. Confirmed Speakers Include: View Agenda Registration fee is $200.
